A freshened-up, more highly functioning website will be the star of an open house event at the Glencoe Public Library on Saturday, September 12. Library patrons of all ages are encouraged to drop by between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. for orientation sessions, one-on-one assistance, and treats.
Two half-hour presentations about the website will be presented at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in the library’s Hammond Room (the program on the mezzanine level). There will be stations throughout the library on the subscription-only databases available free to Glencoe cardholders, demonstrations on how to download e-books and e-audiobooks, and one-on-one help with managing your library account.
Cake will be served in the Young Adult area on the main level. The first 100 adults and 100 children to sign up for the new e-mail version of the library’s newsletter will receive a pair of sunglasses!
For children, there will be a craft and individualized instruction on the homework help available through the site. Those who don’t make it to the September 12 event will want to go to the library’s website (www.glencoepubliclibrary.org) and look under Digital Content – Homework Help. There, they’ll find premium online resources (encyclopedia, reference databases, information on hot topics, biographies), links to the full text of articles from the Chicago Tribune from 1849 to the present, NoveList book suggestion lists, animated talking picture books, language learning programs, and many more helpful links.
For more information, please contact the library at 847/835-5056. The library is located at 320 Park Avenue in Glencoe, Illinois.
